Many contractors and screen buyers often ask how curved outdoor LED displays are produced and installed. With this real campus project case, we’re sharing practical industry knowledge and complete installation procedures of curved outdoor screens today.
There are two main types of curved outdoor LED screens on the market: outward convex curve (the type used in our project) and inward concave curve. Different from standard flat screens with universal mounting frames, curved screens require custom-made steel frames based on the wall’s arc dimension. Every LED cabinet needs fine adjustment to match the radian for seamless fitting on irregular walls. Standard outdoor full-color LED boasts IP65 waterproof rating, with front side against water and dust and reserved heat dissipation space at the back, so it can withstand strong sunlight and damp rainy seasons without easy damage. P8 and P10 are common choices for campus projects, delivering clear viewing effect within 20 to 30 meters, ideal for campus announcements, festival posters and promotional videos. Our screen adopts wall-mounted installation; the suspended steel frame is fixed on exterior walls without occupying indoor space, making it a top pick for facade renovation of schools and industrial parks.
Construction starts with on-site measurement of arc size and wall load capacity to confirm fixing positions for expansion bolts. The hot-galvanized steel frame complying with national standard is pre-welded in factory according to required radian for good rust and wind resistance. After scaffolding setup, the whole frame is firmly fixed onto walls with steel plates and expansion bolts. The stability of frame directly decides the screen’s service life, so we never compromise on construction quality here. Once frame inspection passes, workers hoist LED cabinets in batches and mount them from bottom to top on the frame platform. Unlike flat screens, curved cabinets need repeated gap adjustment per column to form a smooth curved surface and avoid uneven surface. After all cabinets are installed, decorative aluminum trim is equipped around the screen to cover exposed steel gaps for better appearance. Next, workers organize power cords and network cables on the back, seal all connectors with waterproof treatment and arrange wires inside trunking to prevent short circuit caused by rainwater leakage. After cable arrangement, we carry out sectional power-on test to fix issues like dead cabinets or distorted images and calibrate color as well as white balance. The project gets fully delivered after testing with high-definition videos showing even color and smooth curved transition.

Such large LED screens bring outstanding benefits for campus use. Its curved outline fits building corners perfectly and works as a landmark, looking much more elegant than rigid traditional flat billboards. It serves multiple purposes including enrollment notice release, daily campus alert and live broadcast of school anniversaries or galas. Equipped with IP65 protection and solid steel frame, the screen keeps low breakdown rate outdoors and cuts long-term maintenance costs for schools. This university curved screen is a typical wall-mounted finished case. Currently both curved and flat outdoor LED screens are widely applied for facade upgrading of schools and industrial parks.
